Schools, nurseries and colleges

Here at Brockwell Park Community Greenhouses we have considerable experience of running activities for students from a variety of educational settings from early years providers to universities.

For nurseries, nursery schools, children’s centres, groups of childminders and parents of pre-school children we run seasonally-themed sessions designed to broaden understanding of the natural world through play. Please go to nurseries for further details.

Primary Schools

A large number of local (and sometimes not so local) primary schools visit our site to experience the benefits of learning outside the classroom. We also offer outreach visits and twilight training sessions to increase the confidence of teaching staff in leading outdoors learning experiences. There is no topic or aspect of the national curriculum that cannot be enhanced by abandoning the classroom for a morning! For further details of our programme for EYFS, KS1 and KS2 pupils, including rates, please visit our primary schools page.

Secondary Schools

At KS3 and above, things get even more interesting. Activities can range from art projects involving decay, to vegetation surveys, floral formulae, design and technology challenges, and murder mysteries to solve. Intrigued? Follow this link to secondary schools to discover more about CSI Brockwell Greenhouses.

We offer horticultural training sessions or themed guided visits for students in further education. Last year’s visitors included students on the Certificate of Garden History at Birkbeck University and a group studying community gardens from the Department of Horticultural Science at the University of Minnesota. For more information go to colleges and adult education providers.
