   Here We Come A-Wassailing

Sat 14 January 2017 @ 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm

Please join our wassailing king and queen on a noisy procession through our orchard. We will sing and drum our way around and so “wake up” our sleeping trees and scare away any bad spirits. And we’ll have warm juice and cider ready too to be sure we are all in hearty voice. For all ages.

Budding carpenters and inventors, come and help us create our Kids’ Natural Play Kitchen. We will be making play stoves, dining rooms, dens and more in our Kids’ Kitchen just to the right of the main entrance.

Our series of free Sunday mornings workshops “The Productive Garden” start this January, on the last two Sundays of the month. Learn how to grow as much edible stuff as possible – year round and organically.

Winter News

Thanks to funding from the Western Riverside Environment Fund (WREF), we have six brand new compost bays. The compost bays were designed and built almost single-handedly by Andy. What a star! Three more to follow in the lower garden in 2017.

New hotels built at BPCG!
With the help of volunteers of all ages, BPCG bugs and beasties can now be snug in our new “dead hedge”, our refurbished “bug hotel” and  fabulous stag beetle stack. Spot the beetle…

Eating up our Jungle
On a balmy October Sunday, we fed more than 100 at our Eat Up Our Jungle Feast.  Storyteller Helen Tozer entertained kids with Jungle Tales before a £3 lunch of extraordinary variety and deliciousness.  Watch film maker Theo Wallis’s lovely film about the day

A Bigger Splash
Our newly lined Wildlife Pond is now planted up with deep water aquatics and oxygenators as well as marginals around the edge. Again our thanks to WREF for funding for these plants and the timber for our lovely new Pond dipping platform constructed by Andy, Rory and Doug.
