Brockwell Park Community Greenhouses is a vibrant community garden situated in Brockwell Park. Our charity is committed to enabling a diverse range of local residents, schools and visitors to increase their knowledge, improve their wellbeing, and to create greener communities. Our education work with local schools, families, young people and adults is critical to this vision as we strive to inspire local residents about the value of plants and wildlife in their lives.
Our one-acre site is a thriving hub of volunteering activities and educational initiatives. We have a few part time paid roles that occasionally become available. If you are interested in a paid role with us, please visit us and see what we get up to, and please keep visiting this page.
CURRENT VACANCIES
Are you interested in becoming a Trustee at Brockwell Park Community Greenhouses?
Brockwell Park Community Greenhouses (BPCG) is a beautiful community garden situated in the middle of Brockwell Park in Herne Hill. We offer a wide range of volunteering opportunities in our garden, an education programme for local schools and families and a programme of adult work-shops in horticulture, woodworking, preserving and fermentation, cooking and crafts. Our new Barn provides a wonderful indoor space for our music and community events with a large teaching kitchen, classroom and toilet facilities. We are now exploring ways to improve diversity and encourage wider participation among those parts of the local community who do not yet enjoy what BPCG has to offer.
We are a charity fully committed to diversity and inclusivity and would like our board of trustees to reflect this.
BPCG is hoping to recruit new trustees at its AGM in November. Our board can have up to 9 members with each Trustee serving a maximum of five years. It meets monthly in the evening and, in addition, Trustees provide some operational on site support.
To become a Trustee, we will ask you to send us a statement of interest setting out why you’d like to join our Board and we’ll then meet with you to discuss your application. We are looking for people who are willing to commit to a few hours per week and if you have skills or experience in retail, cooking, IT, fundraising, education, social media and marketing, or finance these would be useful. Experience of managing staff would also be helpful. However, even if you don’t have experience in any of these areas, but would like to join us, we would still love to hear from you.
If having met with us the Board supports your application it will be forwarded to the annual AGM in November for approval by our Members.
If you think you might be interested in joining us please write to Joanna David, Chair of the Board of Trustees at chair@brockwellgreenhouses.org.uk describing why you want to be involved and what skills and relevant experience you would bring.
Equity, diversity and inclusion
At BPCG we believe in equality of opportunity and positively encourage applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates regardless of age, sex, race, disability, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital/civil partnership status, or pregnancy and maternity. We are committed to better reflecting society and the communities who use, need and enjoy our garden. We welcome requests for flexible working. All applications will be judged solely on merit.
