Brockwell Park Community Greenhouses (BPCG) is a community garden in the centre of Lambeth’s Brockwell Park. Our beautiful, large site includes an orchard, a series of demonstration gardens, a walled herb garden and two large greenhouses.
We help people grow through learning, and learn through growing. We run a garden volunteering scheme, school visits, family events, courses and workshops. At BPCG, people learn about conserving the environment and wildlife, to appreciate nature and to understand organic gardening and food growing – and all in a very friendly community spirit. We host school visits and childrens’ activities on Monday to Wednesday.
We are open to the public and for garden volunteering four days a week, Thursday to Sunday, 10am to 4pm (GMT) and to 5pm (BST). We also welcome the assistance of Corporate Volunteer groups.
For those interested in helping on our childrens’ and families’ nature based education programme Monday to Wednesday, we also always welcome voluntary assistance here too.
We have many events held throughout the year including our musical Gigs@theGreenhouses, pizza and bread baking days and community feasts.
Thanks to our large greenhouses, we are able to propagate a large number of plants which are available for sale along with our freshly harvested produce and our honey for most of the year. This raises valuable funds for the charity.
Our charity is run by a board of trustees, our part time staff and a dedicated band of over 200 volunteers.
