Frank Williams’ African Jazz Quartet  live

+ DJ Gerry Lyseight

This will be the last Mambista event at BPCG for 2021 so you really don’t want to miss out. The first night with Soothsayers (+ Youthsayers) was joyful – despite the showers -with great music, lovely food and the Mambista Massive, in a truly beautiful setting.

Frank Williams left South Africa in 1978 and made his name in the UK in the 1980s playing with fellow South African jazz exiles in Chris McGregor’s legendary Brotherhood of Breath and, later, Dudu Pukwana’s Zila.

African Jazz Quartet deliver high quality South African Township Jazz and Highlife grooves; featuring the soaring South African Sax Colossus: Frank Williams, Dynamite Dan Waldman on guitar, Melodious Michael Bailey on the bass and Kickin’ Kofi Adu on the drums.

Extremely delicious hot food will be available to those who book a Music and Food Ticket in advance.  When booking please choose your food option.  The menu is:

  • Chicken Korma – served with Rice (does not contain nuts, does contain dairy)
  • Black-Eyed Bean & Mushroom Curry – served with Rice (Vegan)

There will also be a paying bar with cocktails, wine and beer.  (Card payments on the night)

Come, rain or shine ……as we can take shelter in the Greenhouse and under marquees if the weather is unkind to us.

Join us for a wonderful session of seriously good times! Book your tickets below. Children under 12  free.

Mambista has been hosting monthly parties since 2014 at West Norwood’s Portico Gallery with live music from bands such as Sexteto Café, Yaaba Funk, Balkanatics, Grupo Lokito, Nerija, Krar Collective and Da Lata alongside the patented Mambista mash-up on the decks, courtesy of founder, DJ Gerry Lyseight (co-founder of Brixton’s legendary Mambo Inn, Mango Landin’, ex-presenter of Planet Mambo on GLR/BBC London).
