Soothsayers + Youthsayers live

+ DJ Gerry Lyseight

It’s been too long a while but Mambista returns with an atmospheric, open air event at the Brockwell Park Community Greenhouses on Saturday 31st July with Wah Wah 45 recording artistes, Mambista favourites and all-round local heroes, Soothsayers, with Youthsayers.

Soothsayers’ sound is a direct hit on the sweet spot where Reggae, Dub, Jazz and funktastic Afrobeat meet and have just released their excellent 9th album, We Are Many.

”One of the finest slices of a Anglo Caribbean fusion since The Specials in their prime … artfully mixing in funk and Afrobeat to their deep dub” Uncut Magazine

Mambista has been hosting monthly club nights since 2014 at West Norwood’s Portico Gallery with live music from bands such as Sexteto Café, Yaaba Funk, Balkanatics, Grupo Lokito, Nerija, Krar Collective and Da Lata alongside the patented Mambista mash-up on the decks, courtesy of founder, DJ Gerry Lyseight (co-founder of Brixton’s legendary Mambo Inn, Mango Landin’, ex-presenter of Planet Mambo on GLR/BBC London)

Very delicious hot food will be available (vegetarian/vegan option available) as well as tasty snacks.  Buy your food ticket in advance below. Please make a note if you require a vegetarian/vegan option when you book your ticket.
There will also be a paying bar at this event.

Soothsayers’ live performances are where the band take their organic unique and universally uplifting afro – dub sound to the next level combining high quality musicianship with a lyrical message, warm sonics and irresistible dance grooves. Soothsayers have performed at an impressive list of festivals, venues and theatres including Rototom Festival (Spain), WOMAD , The North Sea Jazz Festival, Dhaka World Music Festival, London Jazz Festival, Glastonbury, Barbados World Music Festival.
