Productive Garden Workshop
February 23 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Led by Cat Stevens, our community gardener you will work on and learn about all the edibles in our garden in this 3 hour monthly workshop.
The emphasis will be on essential things to do in the month to keep your garden productive. The workshop will be great for people with the intent to cultivate a largish space – perhaps an allotment, a large garden or a local community space – and plenty of energy to burn!
It’s an active, practical course. You’ll be mulching, weeding, harvesting roots, shoots and berries, sowing outside, pruning fruit trees and bushes and building bean supports. By the end of the year you should have all the techniques and knowledge to run your own plot productively.
Over the duration of the workshops we will be looking at:
1) harvesting techniques for various fruit and vegetables
2) how to feed the soil in vegetable beds to maintain them as highly productive. This will involve developing an understanding of composting techniques and how to recycle garden waste.
3) how to manage common garden pests using organic methods.
4) plant selection and what to grow, when and how to plant it.
This is a free workshop.
