The Composter’s Year

February 16 @ 11:00 am - 1:00 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every month that begins at 11:00 am on day Third of the month, repeating until 12 July 2020

One event on 12 July 2020 at 11:00 am

Every year we produce around 30 tonnes of compost in the garden and this year we aim to produce even more as we have additional bays. This workshop is an opportunity to get to know all aspects of composting –  both theory and practice  – whilst helping your local community garden over a composting season. There will be a monthly two hour sessions up until July 2020.

Participants should only take part if they agree to follow these guidelines. https://www.brockwellgreenhouses.org.uk/coronavirus-and-bpcg/

This is a practical course and there will be some quite physical work of shredding and turning the heaps, barrowing manure, and mulching beds. You will qualify to operate our petrol shredder. And you will learn how to make first rate composts at home as well as brewing compost teas from Nettle and from Comfrey.

The dates of the workshops are:

19 APR 2020, SUN
12 JUL 2020, SUN
