SUMMARY:Flax Exchange Workshop with Shane Waltener
DESCRIPTION:We will be joined by artist and Flax Exchange founder Shane Waltener who will guide us through the processes to prepare and spin flax fibres into cordage. Come and join this hands-on workshop to learn about how to ret\, break\, scutch\, hackle and spin flax using ancient craft techniques and tools. \nFlax stems produce one of the strongest and versatile plant fibres\, it has been used for thousands of years to make rope and woven into linen textiles. Come learn about this fascinating plant as we move through the stages to produce our own natural cordage and thread. \nFlax Exchange is an ongoing community project led by artist Shane Waltener whose creative practice is rooted in ideas of ecology\, skills exchange and the sharing of cultural and social histories that relate to craft. \nINFORMATION \nTickets:\n£10 Standard Price\n£15 Pay-it-forward \nIf you can afford to pay a little extra\, please choose to Pay-it-forward. SUMMARY:Lino Workshop: Autumn & Halloween Edition
DESCRIPTION:Learn how to sketch\, carve and print your own greeting cards inspired by the spooky season and our autumnal gardens. \nWe start with a short wander through the gardens to get inspired by the latest blooms – and then get making! You will end up with 5 greeting cards to take home and your stamp to re-print your design as often as you like. \nThis workshop is suitable for beginners as well as advanced printmaker’s who would like to come together to create and get inspired by our beautiful gardens. \nAll materials are provided and there will be free tea and biscuits available during the workshop. \nFor inspiration\, have a look at the cards for sale at BPCG that resident printmakers have created\, or have a rummage online\, there are some beautiful examples here and here. \nDepending on the layer of paint\, your cards could dry relatively quickly\, but it would be helpful if you could bring some Tupperware or similar to transport them home safely.
