SUMMARY:Willow Weaving Workshop: Make Your Own Hanging Basket
DESCRIPTION:Come along and enjoy a day of creativity\, learning the traditional craft of willow weaving! In this 5 hour workshop you will master weaving techniques and make your very own hanging basket which you can take home at the end of the day.  \nWillow weaving is a traditional method for making all kinds of beautiful baskets and containers using natural materials. There are many varieties of willow and many different coloured stems or ‘rods’. The different coloured rods add an extra layer of decoration to your willow weaving allowing you to weave different coloured patterns into your baskets. \nIn this workshop you will learn the traditional method of willow basket weaving but with a twist. The basket will have a pointy base to transform it into a beautiful hanging basket. \nHanging baskets can make an attractive addition to any garden\, entranceway\, front door or courtyard space\, and can be planted up with edible or ornamental plants including our trailing bush tomatoes\, Tumbling tom yellow and Tumbling tom red which will be on sale at our shop. \nAll material and tools provided. \nTicket prices\n£65 full price / £50 concessions \nRunning time\n5 hour workshop plus an hour break for lunch \n“As a complete beginner I loved learning about willow weaving in BPCG’s new barn. It was a small friendly group and Cat the tutor was great. We each made a basket and either finished them on the day or took home the materials and knowledge to do so. I was very proud of my slightly wonky one!” \nThis workshop will be lead by Cat Stevens \nCat studied sculpture at Edinburgh Art College. She is a professional gardener\, art psychotherapist\, potter and stained glass maker.
