SUMMARY:Willow Weaving Workshop: Make Your Own Sustainable Plant Supports
DESCRIPTION:Come along and enjoy a day of creativity\, learning the traditional craft of willow weaving. In this workshop we will be focussing on how to make attractive and sustainable supports for your plants\, using willow and traditional willow weaving techniques. \nIn this 5 hour workshop you will be shown how to make three different plant supports. A traditional circular support\, good for plants like dahlias and peonies\, stopping them from flopping over. For taller plants like sweet peas\, you can make a willow obelisk and for very small plants\, or as a form of plant protection\, you can make a miniature willow dome. \nWillow is a very versatile weaving material from which you can create decorative and useful items such as plant supports\, garden sculptures\, ‘live’ fences\, firewood baskets and shopping baskets. You will learn all about the various types of willow you can weave with and the differences between living willow and dried willow. As well as becoming familiar with traditional tools such as the bodkin and rapping iron. \nYou will make one or more plant support which you can take home at the end of the day\, plus the knowledge to make many more! \nAll material and tools provided. \nINFORMATION \nTicket prices\n£65 full price / £50 concessions \nRunning time\n5 hour workshop plus an hour break for lunch \nIf viewing on a phone\, scroll to the bottom of the page to book.  \n“As a complete beginner I loved learning about willow weaving in BPCG’s new barn. It was a small friendly group and Cat the tutor was great. We each made a basket and either finished them on the day or took home the materials and knowledge to do so. I was very proud of my slightly wonky one!” \nThis workshop will be lead by Cat Stevens \nCat studied sculpture at Edinburgh Art College. She is a professional gardener\, art psychotherapist\, potter and stained glass maker.

DESCRIPTION:Alice Boyd presents a live performance inspired by her BBC Radio 4 documentary ‘Shifting Soundscapes’\, where she revisited locations legendary field recordist Martyn Stewart\, dubbed the David Attenborough of nature sounds\, recorded in the 70s. SUMMARY:Gig at the Greenhouses: Mambista with Michael ‘Bammi’ Rose
DESCRIPTION:Jazz\, Reggae\, Ska \nRespect is due to the elders. Bammi was an original member of the genre-busting Cymande\, he’s played alongside everyone from Aswad and Jazz Jamaica to Paul Simon and Miriam Makeba. \nBammi will be touring the UK throughout the Summer with Jools Holland’s Rhythm and Blues Orchestra where he has been a mainstay for 20 plus years. We are extremely happy that he is able to fit us into his schedule for his patented selection of vintage joyous jazz\, ska and reggae. \nCome rain or shine\, as we can take shelter in the greenhouse and under marquees if the weather is unkind to us. \n\nJoin us for a wonderful session of seriously good sounds! \n\nInformation \nTickets\nMusic:\n£16 Standard price\n£12 Concessions\nFood: £7 per person \nTimings\n18.00: DJ Gerry Lyseight\n19.00: First set\n19:45:DJ Gerry Lyseight\n20:45: Second set\n21:30:DJ Gerry Lyseight\n22.00: Finish \nIf viewing on a phone\, scroll to the bottom of the page to book \nFood & Drink \nThe bar will be open all evening with delicious botanical cocktails\, local craft beer\, organic wine and soft drinks. \nDelicious hot food will be available from 7pm – 9.15pm courtesy of Carey’s Kitchen.
