Just a short email this week as we only have one day of volunteer gardening left before Christmas, on this Thursday 23rd December.  We’ll be open again on Thursday 6th January.

Meantime, do have a look at these lovely photos that Alice Monedero recently took of a Saturday at BPCG. You can view them here https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/13rxKukueSu_X2QjvwsGNHCbqD8eQzA-B?usp=sharing  Do feel free to use / share. Just credit Alicia Monedero  with a link to her website https://www.aliciamonedero.com/

Don’t forget to put Sunday January 30th in your diary for a Pot Luck Lunch at 1pm when we hope to gather to wish each other Happy (late) New Year 2022 and to celebrate the care, fun and creativity that everyone brings to the Greenhouse Community.

Now for some holiday reading….occasionally and admittedly in a very random way, we recommend the odd book to read.  Here’s two – ‘The Beauty in the Beast’ by Hugh Warwick – beautifully described portraits of the UK’s wild animals, insects and birds and the colourful enthusiasts who champion their causes.  As Keith the elderly but super energetic moth expert says: ‘You don’t need to go off on an exotic holiday to be amazed by wildlife. Just try looking a little harder at your own patch.’

And as we get to that time of seed and plant catalogue browsing, consider asking for a super late xmas present ‘A Garden from a Hundred Packets of Seeds’ by James Fenton, poet and gardener.  Inspiring reading for anyone aspiring to grow more plants from seed.

And finally, looking forward to what feels a long way away in the Summer, you can listen to a recording of an interesting Webinar presentation from LoudSound and Lambeth about their Summer Event series – Wide Awake, Mighty Hoopla and City Splash Festivals – as well as the free Community Festival scheduled to take place between 27th May to 5th June 2022 in Brockwell Park. Wishing you all the very best for this Christmas and New Year and looking forward to seeing you soon
