Harvesting and a Pizza Accident

Ooops! In a freak administrative accident we’ve been advertising Sunday Pizzas for the wrong day this month. It’s actually this coming Sunday 18th at 1.00pm. Because of that there are loads of tickets left. Get yours here.

This week in the garden, after last weeks wind we may need to be doing some more repairs to our climbing bean supports and tomato supports! Many of these were leaning at an angle on Sunday and we hope they will still be standing by tomorrow.

August really is a busy month for harvesting. Many vegetables are most productive when regularly harvested, and in this case regularly means every few days. This is true of our runner beans, bush tomatoes, chard leaves, salad leaves, courgettes, and raspberries. If you enjoy selling produce, do come and help us with the front of house sales of our produce.

We will start to do some seed saving. This can be done when plants seed heads are turning brown and ripe. Come and help us collect seeds from around the herb garden. Seed needs to be cleaned, dried, and then put into small labelled seed envelopes.

There are still a few tickets left for Cat’s workshop on successional planting. At this time of the year when many first crops such as broad beans, peas, onions, kohlrabi and early potatoes have been harvested you may be considering what can be planted next to keep your veg beds productive. The workshop is free but spaces are limited – please book a free ticket here.
