This week, we will have these lovely BPCG grown plants on sale:   Anemone £3, Coronilla £3, Arum italicum (lords-and-ladies) £2 and Lemon Balm £2.  Plenty of gorgeous local honey available too from Camberwell and Dulwich too.  If you are interested in helping us sell plants and produce either at the Greenhouses or at our Market stalls, please drop Kate an email on or let us know when you are next up at the greenhouses.  We are running a market stall at Herne Hill on Sundays April 28th, 12th May and 26th May and your help at these would be fantastic!   Selling our plants and produce is a really important way for us raise money for the charity.

We also need volunteers to help out at our April gigs. Faith i Branko is on Sunday 7th April and our second gig is on April 28th 5pm to 8pm with Doolally Tap.  If you can help at this or future gigs, please get in touch with Kate on   On 7th April, we will need to set up at 2.30pm and will be clearing up until 9pm.  Any time you can give will be most appreciated!

Would you like to learn to make Pizzas in our cob oven?  We will need lots of  pizza helpers on Saturday May 11th   when we are making pizzas for all the people coming to our May Fete. We will start at 10.30am and finish up around 3pm. If you can help out, please email Emma on:

On Sunday the Renovate! group will be working once again on the Lower Greenhouse. The session will run from 11.00am until 3.00pm – arrive when you want and do as much as you feel like. This month we are going to be refurbishing the wooden frame and lids of the cold frame removing all metalwork, filling, sanding and re-coating with wood preserver. No need
to book just turn up. We’re looking forward to seeing you.

Note too that the clocks go forward this weekend so from this Sunday 31st March, we will be open 10am until 5pm.

With the longer warmer days approaching this week, we can start our outdoor seed sowing in earnest! In the little salad bed in the upper four crop we will be sowing Salad Bijou, Mustard Red frills and lettuce Moonred.

In the seed bed next to the salad bed we will be sowing a range of brassicas including Kale:- Nero di Toscana, Midnight Sun, Buttonhole Starmaker, Kale Scarlet and Cabbage – ‘January King’ and Cauliflower – ‘All Year Round’.

There is some final preparation of our vegetable beds to complete and then we will be ready for a long and busy growing season. We will be moving soil into our new brassica bed.

This week we will also be painting the inside of our new garden tool storage container in readiness for organising and moving all our tools into it.  We will also be squirrel proofing the bee keeping shed using expandable foam.
