This week, we will be starting our big winter greenhouse clean. It’s the best time of year to do this because we have very few plants growing in them now. We will clean the windows to remove limescale. This will bring even more light inside for the plants. We will also clean the staging with a disinfectant – Jeyes fluid – so as to get rid of any lurking pests and diseases before the next growing season begins.

There’s lots more leaf raking to do and gutter clearing. We are also going to tackle and sort out the tool and open sheds in pursuit of our perennial quest: more storage space!

We will be doing some upcycling: making Christmas decorations out of used drinks cans. Don’t forget to bring in any empty drinks cans you can spare us!  Big thanks to Canopy Beer for those they have provided us with already.

We are soon running training sessions for BPCG volunteers on how to drive our new Electric Tuk Tuk. If you’d like to learn and will be available to make deliveries in the local area, please reply to this email and we will let you know the days when we are running our Covid safe lessons. You need to be over 25 and have a clean driving licence.

We are pleased to announce that….Our Willow Reindeer, Camel and Penguin are ready for you to come and pose with and take Christmas pix any time between 11 and 3 on Saturdays and Sundays. Thanks to everyone who has been involved in creating these brilliant christmas creatures!

And for BPCG at Home,  we have got some great online talks and activities coming up for you:

We have been donated a range of candle making equipment including paraffin wax, moulds, dye and fragrance for the wax, and a Heath Robinson heated water bath for melting the wax.  If you are interested in having any or all of this, please enquire at the BPCG upper greenhouse between 11 and 3 on Saturdays and Sundays. It’s stored middle of greenhouse left hand side as you enter. We will soon need the space – it must be taken by the  22nd November.
