Summer holidays activities for families

A COMPLETE LIST OF ACTIVITIES AND DATES UNTIL MID AUGUST. 

If you’re looking for fun outdoors and craft-related activities to keep your family busy over the long summer holidays, then our summer programme of family activities may be able to help.  With morning and afternoon sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays from 21 July-13 August there’s plenty going on.

Monday 21 July, 10.30am-12.30pm Lambeth Children’s University workshop
Summer fun for Lambeth Children’s University families. This workshop is free for CU families but pre-booking is essential.

Wednesday 23 July, 10.30-11.30am Natural play dough for pre-schoolers (plus older siblings)
Make your own play dough using natural colourings then scavenge for a  range of garden materials to create your own fantasy landscape. Free, drop-in event.  Donations welcome.

Monday 28 July, 10.30am-12.30pm Butterflies flutter-by
Summer holiday workshop. Learn more about British butterflies and their important role as pollinators. Create a beautiful butterfly mobile to hang up in your room at home. £5 per child (discounts available  for unwaged/low income). Booking essential.

Monday 28 July, 2-4pm Become a junior lepidopterist
Summer holiday workshop. Learn more about British butterflies and their important role as pollinators. Make a butterfly feeding station and learn how to cook butterfly food. £5 per child (discounts available for unwaged/low income). Booking essential.

Wednesday 30 July, 10.30am-12.30pm Make a bee house
Summer holiday workshop. Create an attractive home for solitary  bees in your garden. This workshop will involve simple woodworking: ages 7+ please. £5 per child (discounts available for unwaged/low income). Booking essential.

Wednesday 30 July, 2-4pm Bee creative
Summer holiday workshop. Find out about the fascinating life of  the honey bee and create a beautiful beeswax candle to take home. £5 per child (discounts available for unwaged/low income). Booking essential.

Saturday 2 August, 10am-12noon Nature Explorers
Our regular monthly nature club for young people aged 7-12 years and their carers.  In August our theme will be pollinators. Requested donation: £2 per child.

Monday 4 August, 10.30am-12.30pm Natural music
Summer holiday workshop. Experiment with making a musical score assisted by objects  found around our garden. Then make a range of vegetable instruments  and join the vegetable orchestra for an ensemble piece. £5 per child (discounts available for unwaged/low income). Booking essential.

Monday 4 August, 2-4pm Memo-tree forest
Summer holiday workshop. Create a family memo-board in the shape of a fantasy forest. £5 per child (discounts available for unwaged/low income). Booking essential.

Wednesday 6 August, 10.30am-12.30pm Design a garden diorama
Summer holiday workshop. Take inspiration from our luxuriant garden space  and design your own 3D garden picture to take home. £5 per child (discounts available for unwaged/low income). Booking essential.

Wednesday 6 August, 2-4pm Grow-able globes
Summer holiday workshop. Combine paper-making and seed sowing  to create a unique grow-able globe. £5 per child (discounts available for unwaged/low income). Booking essential.

Monday 11 August, 10.30am-12.30pm Needle point felting
Summer holiday workshop with Carole Grantham. Create a cute felted ladybird or snail to take home. This workshop will use sharp needles: ages 7+ only, please. £5 per child (discounts available for unwaged/low income). Booking essential.

Wednesday 13 August, 2-4pm Seed bombs
Summer holiday workshop. Select and collect your favourite wildflower seeds from our wildflower meadow and learn how to make seed bombs. What patch of land will you blitz with flowers next year? £5 per child (discounts available for unwaged/low income). Booking essential.
