Gig at the Greenhouses – Balladeste

Balladeste is a collaboration between Preetha Narayanan on violin and Tara Franks on cello.

Inspired by Indian classical and folk, the duo create original compositions that are vibrant and experimental yet melodic and filmic in quality.  Preetha and Tara have played at Conway Hall, Wiltons Music Hall, the National Portrait Gallery and many other venues. Have a look and listen to their beautiful, original music here and here

“Dazzling musicianship and transportive melodies. An utter privilege to have them on the show”  The Nest Collective – Resonance FM

Gates open 6pm to give you an opportunity to see the gardens and get food and drink.  Balladeste’s first set will be at 6.30pm to 7.15pm. Interval 7.15pm to 7.45pm. Second set 7.45pm to about 8.30pm.

We put on our Gigs at the Greenhouses to let people hear brilliant music, enjoy our lovely gardens and to raise money so that the community can benefit from BPCG 7 days a week.

Seasonal Dyeing – Summer

This is a short introduction to natural dyeing on wool with a more seasonal focus on locally available plants specific to the season. We’ll cover preparing the fibre, preparing and dyeing with natural dye baths and keeping records of dye experiments.  We’ll also look at gathering and storing natural dyestuffs which are in season.

Please note that this is an evening course.

All participants will receive samples of wool that we’ve dyed in the workshop.

There are 2 free tickets on this workshop for BPCG volunteers.  Please contact Kate on director@brockwellgreenhouses.org.uk if you would like one of these!

This workshop is run by Mette Lindahl-Wise, an indie dyer based in Herne Hill. She draws on the British approach to dyeing with natural materials as well as on the Scandinavian tradition which can be traced back to the Viking ages.
