Idumea Quartet Gig at the Greenhouses

Appalachian folk music under-laid by minimalism and chamber music; fabulous string playing combined with beautiful harmonized singing and the result is Idumea – a sound which is as high and lonesome as it is symphonic.

The Idumea Quartet is: Jane Rothfield and Ewan Macdonald on fiddle, Becka Wolfe on viola, Nathan Bontrager on cello.  The name Idumea is taken from song 47b from the Sacred Harp tradition of choral music.
A full-length recording project is currently underway but in the meantime, Have a pre-listen to Idumea’s fantastic take on Sally Ann here

We will be serving Appalachian fare – bean soup and corn bread – and running a botanical bar serving drinks and snacks so arrive any time from 5pm to enjoy these with a stroll around the gardens when you can also admire our Gorgeous Gourds exhibition.  We have plenty of chairs, but do bring a warm jumper!

To find us, follow the signs in the park to the Community Greenhouses. We are between the Tennis Courts and the Walled Gardens.

At the end of the event, you will leave by the Lido Gate Exit of the park so if driving, it is best to park your car on or near Dulwich Road near the Lido.

Online ticket purchase is now closed but you can buy tickets on the gates any time today!
