Let’s get ready to Wassail!

Join us in the greenhouse to make noisy shakers and wonderful wassail crowns, ready for the Jolly Wassail!

We’ll use recycled and natural materials to make percussion instruments, and craft beautiful decorative crowns to wear.

When everyone is ready, we will follow our wassail Queen in to the orchard. There we will sing and make as much noise as possible, to ‘wake up’ the sleeping trees and scare away any bad spirits. Our wassailing will make sure we have a bountiful harvest in 2018!

This is a free family workshop for children of all ages. Donations accepted. This workshop finishes at 4pm, and will be followed straight away by our Jolly Wassail 4pm-5pm – please join in!

What to bring: warm clothes and torches

Gig@the Greenhouses – Oysland Band

As part of the Herne Hill Music Festival, we have Greenhouse Klezmer with the wonderful klezmer band Oysland Band.

“Full of atmosphere! Oysland’s music takes you straight to the main stage, where you can become part of the celebration of music and life.” say Central and Eastern European London Review.

Top-notch contemporary Klezmer! Seven-piece band, Oysland, embody the new generation of Yiddish roots music, serving up an exuberant and soulful cocktail of wedding songs and lamenting lullabies. They swoop through centuries of traditional pieces gleaned from Eastern Europe with panache, adding wider scopes from the Balkans, whilst preserving all the essential & original ingredients.
