The Edible Garden Year – Winter Pruning

You can eat organic produce from your garden year round if  you know the right things to do – and when.  Every month in these Sunday morning workshops, you can learn from Cat our community gardener all about how to make your Garden Edible – 12 months of the year and using organic gardening methods.

This month we will be looking at how to prune apple and pear trees.

People are often nervous about knowing where and how to cut, how much to cut out, and sussing out the difference between a fruit bud and a wood bud.  But you will come away from this workshop, knowing all this and more!

Dress up warm as this can be a quite a still workshop as we look and learn about our trees.
If you have a pruning saw or secateurs, please bring along to enable the maximum possible participation.

The workshop is free but so we know you are coming please book online.

We need […]

The Edible Garden Year

You can eat organic produce from your garden year round if  you know the right things to do – and when.  Every month in these Sunday morning workshops, you can learn from Cat our community gardener all about how to make your Garden Edible – 12 months of the year and using organic gardening methods.

In this workshop, Cat will teach you how to make hard wood cuttings from fruit bushes such as red and black currants.  This is exciting as you will get to know how you can make many new plants from one ‘mother’! We will also be learning how to winter prune grape vines.

We should too be harvesting leeks, parsnips and kale – which will give you inspiration on growing these in 2019.
