SUMMARY:Mindfulness in Nature Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Do you struggle with meditation? Do you struggle to stay present when you meditate? Do you struggle with anxiety and tiredness? \nMeditating in and with nature helps us be present and calm more easily than if we meditate indoors. In this afternoon session we will learn to focus\, to soften\, to meander\, and find joy in our own local park! \nMany of us struggle with cultivating or maintaining a mindfulness practice. It is\, in fact\, easier and more natural to practice mindfulness in nature. Nature is a wonderful teacher\, helping us more intuitively tap into feelings of peace\, joy\, and to be more present with the world around us. \nWe also know from recent studies that spending time in nature for even 10 minutes a day has profound impacts on our physiological and emotional wellbeing. So why not start here\, with our wonderful gardens (and Deepti) as your guide! \nBeing outdoors in the rain and cold \nThe elements\, specifically cold and rain\, help bring a quality of presence that allows us to be aware and in-the-moment. The rain is a constant reminder to return to the ‘now’ and the cold allows us to embody in presence. \nWe will aim to spend most/all of our time outdoors but do have the option to use the greenhouse if we get rained on\, we will ease gently into our outdoor practice. \nWho is this workshop for? \nEveryone! Whether you are new to meditation and mindfulness or a practitioner who wants to deepen their practice. If you love nature\, you’ll love this workshop! \nWhat to bring \nCamping stool (if you are not sitting on the ground)\, water bottle and snack\, extra warm layer\, rain trouser and jacket\, and meditation cushion if you are sitting on the ground \nI will provide waterproof sheets to sit on and we can carry a few chairs from the greenhouse if necessary\, so don’t buy anything specifically for this session! \nInformation \nTickets: Pay What You Can (£45 / £35 / £20)\nRecommended price £35 \nRunning time: 3 hours (including breaks) \nIf viewing on a phone please scroll to the bottom of the page to book.  \nThe workshop will be led by Deepti Sastry \nDeepti is a trained yoga\, vedic chanting\, and mindfulness teacher. She has deep\, abiding love of and faith in the yoga\, chanting\, and mindfulness traditions\, hoping to offer these wonderful practices so others might find their own path to a loving heart\, and peace. Deepti has over 3000 hours of yoga and meditation training and has also taught for over 3000 hours with teacher training schools and independently. More recently\, Deepti has designed and delivered advanced philosophy and chanting courses for trained yoga teachers and trains aspiring yoga teachers at Yogarise and Yogahouse. Deepti is also a trained mindfulness teacher with the Mindfulness Training Institute and Awake in the Wild and a supervisor with the Mindfulness Training Institute.

Their collaboration began in 2014\, when Mário\, organist and keyboardist\, met Petra\, a singer and pianist\, in their local parish church. Since then\, they have performed together regularly at Holy Masses and community events across the Pieštany region. \nMarian Bango is a classical violinist influenced by his Slovakian gypsy heritage to create a very unique and special sound. He started his career in the orchestra of the Theatre Romathan\, where he performed for over ten years. He has played with numerous orchestras and performed with bands on many stages across Europe. You can see him perform on BBC television\, for Holocaust Memorial Day 2020. \nNina Plapp is a Herne Hill cellist and composer who met Marian a decade ago while researching her BBC radio 4 project ‘A cello in the desert’ which traced the musical heritage of gypsy music back to India. They have been playing together ever since. The duo recently performed Nina’s composition at The National Gallery and are currently recording their first duo album. \nAbout the venue \nThe gig will take place inside the barn. The barn has step-free access and an accessible toilet. The gig will be seated. \nFind our more about access here. \nWe put on our Gigs at the Greenhouses to let people hear brilliant music\, enjoy our lovely gardens and to raise money so that the community can benefit from BPCG seven days a week. \nGetting to us \nBPCG is in the middle of Brockwell Park\, between the tennis courts and the walled gardens. Follow the signs. \nExit from the Park should be via the Park’s Lido Gates on Dulwich Road. Please leave in groups and be sure to have a torch or use your phone torches.
