SUMMARY:Stitching Nature: Embroidering Photographs
DESCRIPTION:Slow down\, get creative\, and see nature from a different perspective in this beginner-friendly embroidery workshop. \nWorking with two postcard-sized photographs taken at Brockwell Park Community Greenhouses\, you’ll learn how simple embroidery stitches can be used to add colour\, pattern and texture to an image. One photograph focuses on flowers and natural forms\, while the other looks at the Greenhouses themselves\, allowing you to experiment with plants\, architecture\, lines and space. \nWe’ll start by learning a few basic stitches and patterns before stitching directly onto the photographs. You’ll also have the option to incorporate small fallen or found natural materials from around the garden\, such as leaves\, flowers and twigs\, into your work. \nNo previous embroidery experience is needed. By the end of the session\, you’ll have your own embroidered postcard to take home\, display or send to someone. \nThe session will run for 2.5 hours and\, weather permitting\, we may sit outside and enjoy the summer surroundings of this green oasis in the city. \nAll materials are provided and there will be free tea and biscuits available during the workshop. Plus our little bar will be open with organic wine (Wild & Lees)\, local beer (Brixton Brewery) and botanical cocktails – card payments only. \nThis workshop will be led by design historian and maker Florencia Denti. \nInformation \nTickets: Standard price £35 / Concession £28 \nRunning time: 2.5 hours \nAge recommendation: 14+ (under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult) \nIf viewing on a phone please scroll to the bottom of the page to book.  \nTicket FAQ’sGetting to us & Access \nBPCG is in the middle of Brockwell Park\, between the tennis courts and the walled gardens. Follow the signs.\nIf you are driving to the gig\, we recommend parking your car on Dulwich Road or near Dulwich Road.\nEntrance and exit from the Park should be via the Park’s Lido Gates on Dulwich Road.\nThe park will be dark when you leave the gig so everyone must leave in groups with torches. \nMore info about Access and how to find us

SUMMARY:Lino Cutting Workshop: Summer Edition
DESCRIPTION:Learn how to sketch\, carve and print your own greeting cards whilst enjoying a summery evening in the surroundings of beautiful gardens and greenhouses. \nWe start with a short wander through the gardens to get inspired by the latest blooms – and then get making! You will end up with 5 greeting cards to take home and your stamp to re-print your design as often as you like. \nThis workshop is suitable for beginners as well as advanced printmaker’s who would like to come together to create and get inspired by our summery gardens. \nAll materials are provided and there will be free tea and biscuits available during the workshop. Plus our little bar will be open with organic wine (Wild & Lees)\, local beer (Brixton Brewery) and botanical cocktails – card payments only. \n\nFor inspiration\, have a look at the cards for sale at BPCG that resident printmakers have created\, or have a rummage online\, there are some beautiful examples here and here. \nDepending on the layer of paint\, your cards could dry relatively quickly\, but it would be helpful if you could bring some Tupperware or similar to transport them home safely. Otherwise you can leave them with us to collect anytime between Thursday and Sunday. \n\n\nThis workshop will be led by artist\, costume/prop designer and maker Charlina Lucas. \nwww.charlinalucas.com \n\nInformation \nTickets: Standard price £32 / Concession £26 \nRunning time: 2.5 hours \nAge recommendation: 14+ (under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult) \nIf viewing on a phone please scroll to the bottom of the page to book.  \nTicket FAQ’sGetting to us & Access \nBPCG is in the middle of Brockwell Park\, between the tennis courts and the walled gardens. DESCRIPTION:  \nTickets are available to buy on the door (card or exact cash only). Food may not be available if you haven’t pre-ordered a meal.\nJoin us for a summer evening of art\, music\, creativity\, delicious food and drinks in the beautiful surroundings of Brockwell Park Community Greenhouses. \nArt in the Garden is our annual celebration of local creativity\, bringing together artists\, performers and visitors for a relaxed evening among the gardens and greenhouses. Explore an exhibition featuring nature-inspired artwork by more than 30 local artists\, displayed throughout the gardens and greenhouses\, and meet some of the people behind the work. \nThere will be live music from alternative musician Gigi Wilde\, whose performances feel like watching a small play—artfully decorated truths with a touch of theatricality. Universally felt stories are brought to life through playful\, lyric-led music. \nYou can also join our poetry walk\, wandering through the gardens and stopping along the way to hear work performed by four different poets\, or take a peaceful moment for yourself during a free 15-minute guided meditation session. Henna painting will also be available throughout the evening. \nOur BPCG Community Cooking Group will be serving a choice of potato\, green bean and coconut curry or beetroot curry\, both served with rice and homemade pickles. Limited food available so pre-booking is highly recommended! We’ll also have some delicious homemade cakes. \nThe bar will be open throughout the evening\, offering local craft beer\, organic wine\, botanical cocktails made with ingredients grown at the Greenhouses\, homemade fruit gin\, soft drinks and other refreshments. \nEvery ticket purchased helps support Brockwell Park Community Greenhouses.
