Embroidery Workshop: Summer Plants & Folklore

Loading Events

Join us for the second in our series of nature-inspired embroidery workshops at Brockwell Park Community Greenhouses.

This time, we’ll be focusing on four summer plants you can find in the garden: elderflower, foxglove, St John’s wort, and wild strawberry. We’ll explore their historical and present-day uses — from medicinal properties to their place in local folklore — and use them as inspiration to learn a variety of basic embroidery techniques.

You’ll be working on a single design that brings all four plants together. This relaxed, creative workshop is suitable for adults who are beginners or have some stitching experience.

The session will run for 2.5 hours and, weather permitting, we may sit outside and enjoy the summer surroundings of this green oasis in the city.

All materials are provided and there will be free tea and biscuits available during the workshop. Plus our little bar will be open with organic wine (Wild & Lees), local beer (Brixton Brewery) and botanical cocktails – card payments only.
