Join us for the launch of the South London Gardeners Collective! A monthly event for anyone interested in or working in gardening and horticulture. You don’t have to have professional knowledge or be a regular gardener, this is for everyone, from novice gardeners and windowsill growers to those working with soil every day.
For our first event we are delighted to welcome Alice Vincent to talk about her new book ‘Why Women Grow’ and inspire our collective conversation on the relationship between women and the soil.
‘Why Women Grow’ is a much-needed exploration of why women turn to the earth, as gardeners, growers and custodians. This book emerged from a deeply rooted desire to share the stories of women who are silenced and overlooked. In doing so, Alice fosters connections with gardeners that unfurl into a tender exploration of women’s lives, their gardens and what the ground has offered them, with conversations spanning creation and loss, celebration and grief, power, protest, identity and renaissance.
Alice will be in conversation with gardener and BPCG volunteer Selina Ozanne.
This will be followed by a collective conversation on the topic of ‘Why Women Grow’. Anyone is welcome to join this conversation or just sit back and enjoy the discussion.

If you’re interested in helping us organise these events or would like to lead an event get in touch with Steph via email.
Pay What You Can
We are offering a Pay What You Can Scheme for these workshops to make them accessible to everyone. We know that ticket price is a huge barrier for some, and this Pay What You Can model offers people who can afford to pay a bit more the chance to support others who can’t.
