Get in the festive spirit with this special edition willow weaving workshop! In this 3 hour workshop you will be shown how to make three different willow Christmas decorations, all suitable for hanging on a Christmas tree or around your home.
These decoration will be made from buff willow rods, that is willow that has had the bark stripped off the rod leaving the willow a straw like colour. This is a lovely natural material and the workshop will show you how extremely versatile this sustainable material is!
You will make three different decorations designs each using different willow weaving techniques.
- A simple 5 pointed star, which enables you to practice bending the willow to create the star shape.
- A Swedish star which involves a wearing technique of threading willow rods over and under each other to create a large attractive star.
- A woven spiral that involves the twisting and folding over of willow rods to form an attractive spiral shape.
At the end of the workshop you will have a selection of hand made Christmas decorations to take home.

Cat studied sculpture at Edinburgh Art College. She is a professional gardener, art psychotherapist, potter and stained glass maker.
